Ewa Przepiórska-Konopa, a lively middle-aged blonde, is a family doctor in a small village near Warsaw. Always in pink and always on the move, she juggles clinic work, house calls, and family life—curing not just bodies but souls. She jokes with patients, meddles in their lives (like matchmaking a widowed neighbour), and even tests out slot machines to see what makes people gamble away their pay checks.
Her husband, Stanisław, is her polar opposite—an introverted forensic doctor who sees the world (and plenty of corpses) in dark shades. When death knocks, he answers the call, developing a philosophical detachment from life.
What happens when an unstoppable optimist and an immovable pessimist share a home? My Twenty Laps captures their odd but endearing dynamic, as their son, Łukasz, a film student, follows them around with a camera. The result? A warm, funny, and revealing documentary. [TVP]
